Gijduvan Traditional Embroidery
|
|
|
| The
craftswomen of the Narzullaev family (Mustapshira Barakaeva, Gulbakhor
Narzullaeva and Mavluda Narzullaeva) hand embroider in silk on cotton in
the style traditional to Gijduvan, using traditional stitching
techniques and natural colors obtained from plants, most of which they
produce at home. These local textiles were used for a range of
traditional purposes: as hangings for family ceremonies, as bed and |

| table covers and as prayer mats, and have now become popular in interior decoration in Uzbekistan
and internationally. Embroidery is also used to decorate contemporary
garments and interior accessories, designed and developed by the
Narzullaevs. |
